Kirkwood to Feature New Honda Livery at Mid-Ohio Race
Kyle Kirkwood will debut a Honda-branded livery for his No. 27 Andretti Global Honda during the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio, making him the second IndyCar driver to do so this season. This collaboration is particularly significant, taking place at a key venue for Honda, located approximately 60 miles from its major Ohio manufacturing and research facilities.
Honda’s announcement emphasized the company’s diverse production capabilities, stating, “More than 400,000 Honda and Acura automobiles are made in Ohio each year, alongside research and design for a range of products, from lawnmowers to the HondaJet.”
Notably, the Mid-Ohio race marks the one-year anniversary of IndyCar’s transition to hybrid powertrains. Kirkwood’s new livery follows a recent one-off Honda Racing Corporation design that propelled Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou to victory at Barber Motorsports Park in April.
Chuck Schifsky, Honda and Acura motorsports manager, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We’re thrilled to have Honda represented on Kyle Kirkwood’s machine at this home race. Our long-standing relationship with the Andretti organization made this opportunity compelling, especially reflecting on a year of hybrid power in IndyCar.”
With significant Honda associates from various Ohio facilities attending, Schifsky underscored the importance of brand visibility at this event, hoping to maintain their winning momentum, as all nine races thus far have been clinched by Honda drivers.
