British GT Championship: Brands Hatch Free Practice Insights
The opening session of the 2025 British GT Championship at Brands Hatch saw Marcus Clutton set a blistering pace, clocking a fastest lap of 1:23.663 in the #67 Orange Racing by JMH McLaren 720S GT3 Evo. His impressive time was established early in the one-hour session, which experienced a minor interruption due to Andrew Howard’s stranded #97 Beechdean Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo in the gravel at Stirlings Bend.
Clutton’s dominance was evident as he outpaced Patrick Kujala, who finished second with a time of 1:23.937 in the #78 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2, trailing by just 0.274 seconds. Four-time champion Jonny Adam secured third position in the #7 Blackthorn Aston Martin, posting a time of 1:24.403.
Notable performances included Sven Müller achieving fourth in Team Parker Racing’s #66 Porsche 911 GT3 R with a time of 1:24.404, while Hugo Cook rounded out the top five in the #1 Barwell Lamborghini with a late-session effort. Other competitive entries featured Marvin Kirchhöfer in sixth place with the #77 Optimum Motorsport McLaren at 1:24.598 and 2021 DTM champion Maximilian Götz, who placed seventh in the #18 2 Seas Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo (1:24.693).
In the GT4 class, Josh Miller secured the quickest lap in the #84 Mahiki Racing Ginetta G56 GT4 Evo with a time of 1:31.347, followed closely by Charlie Robertson in the #71 Century Motorsport BMW M4 GT4 EVO at 1:31.514. Reigning GT4 Pro-Am champion Jack Brown took third in the Optimum Motorsport #90 McLaren Artura GT4 with a lap of 1:31.850.
The free practice results set the stage for further competition, with pre-qualifying continuing in another session scheduled from 11:50 local time.
