Bryan Herta Autosport Enters LMP2 Competition for 2026 IMSA Season
Bryan Herta Autosport (BHA) has officially announced its transition to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with a full-time LMP2 program set to launch in 2026. This move follows a successful five-year tenure in the TCR class of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, where the team secured five consecutive championships in partnership with Hyundai from 2019 to 2023.
BHA, known for its historical achievements, including two Indianapolis 500 victories in 2011 with Dan Wheldon and in 2016 with Alexander Rossi, looks to build on its legacy in the sports car realm. The team also clinched the 2018 Pirelli World Challenge TCR teams’ and manufacturers’ championships before shifting focus to IMSA.
Team president Bryan Herta stated, “Our entry into the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship is vital for building our foundation for the future… It’s the next logical step for our organization, and one that we’ve been planning for some time.” Herta emphasized the importance of the LMP2 platform for staff development and competitive readiness.
BHA plans to leverage its newly established headquarters in Brownsburg, Indiana, as the central hub for engineering and operations. The team’s debut LMP2 vehicle will participate in the IMSA Sanctioned Test at Daytona this November, with further announcements regarding the driver lineup and partnerships expected soon.
The transition to LMP2 marks a significant evolution for BHA as it continues to strive for success in various racing disciplines.
