Thibault Benistant Withdraws from Remaining MXGP Rounds Due to Injury
French motocross rider Thibault Benistant will miss the final two rounds of the 2025 FIM Motocross World Championship as a result of a knee injury sustained during the Dutch Grand Prix. The 23-year-old, competing for the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 team, will not participate in the upcoming MXGP of Chinda in Shanghai or the MXGP of Australia in Darwin.
Initially, Benistant competed at the recent MXGP of Türkiye despite substantial discomfort, finishing eighth overall. However, following a medical assessment upon returning to France, a small fracture in his patella was diagnosed, prompting a premature end to his season to focus on recovery.
This injury concludes a notable chapter in Benistant’s career, marking the end of his tenure in the MX2 class, as he is set to age out of the category in 2025. Since joining the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 team in 2021, he achieved considerable success with nine race wins, 35 top-three finishes, and three Grand Prix victories.
Yamaha expressed gratitude for Benistant’s contributions throughout his decade-long association with the brand, particularly highlighting his championship wins in the EMX125 and EMX250 classes.
Yamaha Motor Europe Off-Road Racing Manager Alexandre Kowalski stated, “We are extremely grateful for Thibault’s contributions… We take great pride in these accomplishments, and it has been a pleasure to witness Thibault’s growth as a professional athlete. I wish him a swift recovery and success in all his future endeavours.”
