IndyCar Series Excludes Mexico from 2026 Calendar Due to World Cup Scheduling
Penske Entertainment CEO Mark Miles announced that the IndyCar Series will not include a race in Mexico as part of its 2026 calendar, citing scheduling conflicts with next year’s FIFA World Cup as the primary reason.
“After extensive discussions to bring the IndyCar Series to Mexico City’s Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, the significant impact of the World Cup proved too challenging for a successful event due to available summer dates,” said Miles.
He emphasized the organization’s commitment to holding a race in Mexico but reinforced the necessity of ensuring optimal conditions for a world-class event. “We want to ensure that everyone involved feels the conditions are in place to plan a world-class and highly engaging race weekend. We hope to schedule an event as soon as the right opportunity presents itself,” Miles added.
Arrow McLaren driver Pato O’Ward, a native of Monterrey, expressed his ongoing support for a home race, stating, “No one wants a race in Mexico more than me…that requires the right date and the right year for fans and sponsors to fully get behind our sport.”
Despite confirming the absence of a Mexican race in 2026, IndyCar has not released a timeline for the complete 2026 schedule.
