Motorsports Report: Vohland’s Season Cut Short by Injury
California native and rising star, Derek Vohland, has announced that a dislocated right elbow will end his 2023 season prematurely. The injury was confirmed via an update on his Instagram account, where he noted that prompt medical attention resulted in the successful reduction of the dislocation, with no fractures reported.
Vohland’s performance this year includes a seventh-place finish in the 250SX East Division of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross and an eighth-place finish in the AMA Pro Motocross Championship. Currently, he stands 17th in the 250SMX SuperMotocross World Championship after two rounds of the playoffs.
Looking ahead, Vohland expressed eagerness to return to the ClubMX team, indicating a focus on applying the lessons learned this season toward a stronger performance in 2026. He credited his mechanic, @mohead25, for significant support in his development as a rider.
Vohland’s full statement reflects his commitment to recovery and his ambition for the future: “I’ll be starting my off-season a little earlier… I’m looking forward to taking what we learned and building on it for an even stronger 2026 season @clubmx.”
