Blomqvist Secures Pole Position for IMSA Battle on the Bricks
INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Tom Blomqvist clinched the pole position for the No. 60 Acura Meyer Shank Racing ARX-06 at the TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks, the sixth round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Blomqvist’s decisive lap of 1:15.569 came in the final moments of the qualifying session, besting Jack Aitken’s No. 31 Cadillac Whelen V-Series.R, which qualified second with a time of 1:14.610.
The front row was completed by Wayne Taylor Racing’s Louis Delétraz in the No. 40 Cadillac (1:14.715) and teammate Ricky Taylor in the No. 10, who took fourth. Cadillac’s performance has increased urgency as the brand seeks its first win of the season.
Penske’s Matt Campbell secured fifth in the GTP category with the No. 6 Porsche 963, while Nick Yelloly in the No. 93 MSR Acura rounded out the top six. The BMW M Team RLL’s Sheldon van der Linde and Dries Vanthoor posted seventh and eighth, respectively, followed by Romain Grosjean in ninth and Felipe Nasr in tenth.
LMP2 Recap
In the LMP2 class, Nick Boulle captured pole for the No. 2 United Autosports USA ORECA 07-Gibson with a time of 1:17.846, ending AJ Racing driver PJ Hyett’s pole streak. Daniel Goldburg in the No. 22 United ORECA claimed second with a 1:18.222, while Steven Thomas, after a penalty, dropped to fifth, behind Hyett and Jeremy Clarke.
GTD PRO and GTD Highlights
Dan Harper delivered a stunning performance in the GTD PRO category, claiming pole in the No. 48 Paul Miller Racing BMW M4 GT3 EVO with a lap of 1:23.259. He edged Christopher Mies’ No. 65 Ford Mustang GT3, qualifying second with 1:23.445. Mikaël Grenier’s No. 75 Mercedes-AMG secured third.
In the GTD category, Casper Stevenson in the No. 27 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage GT3 also achieved his first career IMSA pole with a lap of 1:23.088, narrowly surpassing Lilou Wadoux’s No. 21 AF Corse Ferrari, who qualified second.

The highly anticipated six-hour endurance race will commence on Sunday at 11:40 a.m. ET, with the latter three hours broadcast live on NBC and available on Peacock and the official IMSA YouTube channel.
