Peugeot Sport Announces Rookie Test Participants for FIA WEC Bahrain
Peugeot Sport has confirmed that Alex Quinn, Mathias Beche, and Nick Cassidy will participate in the post-season FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) Bahrain Rookie Test next month, where they will evaluate the 9X8 Hypercar.
Quinn, a winner of the European Le Mans Series’ LMP2 Pro/Am and the Asian Le Mans Series with Algarve Pro Racing, expressed enthusiasm about his first experience with the Hypercar class. “I’m looking forward to discovering the 9X8 in Bahrain,” Quinn stated. He emphasized the challenge ahead, noting, “It will be a good challenge with lots to learn and understand within a short period.”
Mathias Beche, who last competed in the top WEC class during the 2018/19 season with Rebellion Racing, highlighted the test as an opportunity to familiarize himself with the 9X8’s distinctive characteristics. “The main objective for this test will be… to discover the 9X8 and its specific traits,” Beche remarked, emphasizing his goal to provide constructive feedback to the team.
Nick Cassidy, the reigning champion of both Super Formula and Super GT, is using this test as crucial preparation ahead of his confirmed full-time drive with Peugeot in 2026. “I’m excited to be joining the team in Bahrain after a first outing in Austin,” Cassidy said, underlining the importance of building on the team’s performance.
In addition to Peugeot’s announcement, the FIA WEC has previously nominated British talents Oliver Gray and Thomas Fleming for tests in Bahrain. Gray, the ELMS LMP2 Champion, will drive the championship-winning Hypercar, while Fleming will pilot the LMGT3 title victor.
This post-season test represents a significant opportunity for emerging and established talents within the Hypercar category, as teams continue to fine-tune their strategies heading into the next competitive season.
