Genesis Magma Racing Unveils Driver Line-Ups for 2026 FIA WEC Season
Genesis Magma Racing has officially announced its driver line-ups for its inaugural season in the Hypercar category of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) with the GMR-001 LMDh.
The #17 entry will feature a trio of drivers: André Lotterer, Pipo Derani, and 20-year-old rookie Mathys Jaubert. This combination leverages Lotterer and Derani’s extensive experience alongside Jaubert, who steps into the WEC for the first time.
Meanwhile, the sister #19 car will be driven by Paul-Loup Chatin, Mathieu Jaminet, and Daniel Juncadella. The trio brings a robust background from various sportscar programs, enhancing the team’s competitive edge.
Jamie Chadwick has been appointed as the team’s Test and Reserve Driver.
Sporting Director Gabriele Tarquini discussed the driver selection process: “After confirming our drivers for the 2026 season, crafting the line-ups became a critical task. We aimed for a strong balance of experience and youth in each car. The combination of André and Pipo with Mathys allows us to blend expertise with fresh talent. In the second car, we benefit from Mathieu and Paul-Loup’s Hypercar and LMDh experience, in addition to Dani’s endurance racing insight.”
Tarquini emphasized the analytical approach taken, citing thorough evaluations of driver performances during tests and their communication and teamwork dynamics outside of the car. He added that practical considerations, such as driver’s height and weight for efficient pit stop changes, were factored into the decisions.
Genesis Magma Racing will make its competitive debut at the Qatar 1812KM, scheduled from March 26 to 28, 2026.
