Kyle Larson Eyes Return to Rolex 24 at Daytona
Daytona Beach, FL — Two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Larson has expressed interest in returning to the Rolex 24 at Daytona, a race in which he triumphed in 2015 with Chip Ganassi Racing. Larson, who has not participated since 2016, conveyed his enthusiasm during a recent episode of the Dinner with Racers podcast.
“I think at this stage in my career, yeah, I’d do it again,” Larson stated. “I had fun those three years I did it. I didn’t want to keep doing it every year.”
Larson is well-versed in managing a demanding racing calendar. Along with his commitments at Hendrick Motorsports, he co-owns High Limit Racing alongside five-time World of Outlaws champion Brad Sweet. Larson’s current schedule also includes various midget races and international trips, notably to Australia.
“The offseasons have only gotten busier,” Larson noted, highlighting a packed racing agenda that has made downtime scarce. He reminisces about his Rolex experience, indicating a longing to relive it with his family, particularly as his oldest son, Owen, is now 11 years old.
“To have my kids be a part of it would be cool,” he added, revealing his desire to share the experience with them. He also noted the logistical advantage of a family trip to Disney World, approximately an hour from Daytona.
However, Larson has certain stipulations regarding a potential return: “I want to be in the best car.” He reiterated his interest, declaring, “I definitely want to do it again in the future.”
As Larson prepares for another season in NASCAR, the prospect of a return to endurance racing remains a tantalizing goal on the horizon.
