Marvin Kirchhöfer Prepares for IMSA Season with Corvette Racing
Marvin Kirchhöfer, a prominent factory GT driver for McLaren, is set to compete in the IMSA series this year, driving for the flagship Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports team. Last season, Kirchhöfer secured his first IMSA victory in a Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R at the Rolex 24 At Daytona, playing a crucial role in the Canadian team AWA’s GTD class win.
This season, Kirchhöfer will team up with reigning IMSA GTD PRO champions Antonio García and Alexander Sims in the No. 3 Corvette for the series’ three major endurance races—Daytona, Sebring, and Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta. Recently completing a successful test session, Kirchhöfer expressed satisfaction with both the car setup and team dynamics.
“It was really nice being back behind the wheel of the Corvette,” Kirchhöfer stated. “I was impressed by the whole setup of the team and received a warm welcome from my teammates.”
Prior to his physical test, Kirchhöfer participated in driver-in-the-loop (DIL) simulator sessions, which he found beneficial, despite being away from sim racing for over a decade. “The feedback from the DIL model was very impressive,” he reported, noting the challenges of capturing full car dynamics in simulation.
As Kirchhöfer begins his season with Corvette, he will also continue his commitment to McLaren, competing in projects including Garage 59’s new WEC LMGT3 entries and the Bathurst 12 Hour for Optimum Motorsport.
Notably, he faces a unique challenge in 2026 as RLL Team McLaren joins the IMSA GTD PRO grid, creating a competitive scenario where Kirchhöfer will race against his own brand during America’s major endurance events.
“Hopefully we’ve done our parts and our work well and can make it a good 2026 Daytona 24 race,” he remarked, looking forward to the upcoming challenges. As Kirchhöfer gears up for this pivotal season, his combination of experience and adaptability will be crucial for both him and his teams.
