DiFrancesco Poised for Breakthrough: Solid Performance in Anaheim
Anaheim, CA – In a promising display of skill and maturity, Daniel DiFrancesco showcased his potential during the opening round of the 250SX season at Anaheim One, finishing on the podium in third place. Reflecting on his efforts, DiFrancesco emphasized the significance of improved starts, a challenge that impeded him in previous races.
“I really struggled with starts last year, and that was my main goal this year—to get some good starts,” he noted. Surprising even himself, DiFrancesco managed to secure a holeshot, a crucial element in a competitive 250SX field where positions can be difficult to regain after a poor start.
Despite leading at times, DiFrancesco faced challenges with race lines, particularly in contrast to the race winner Max Anstie, who executed a critical on-off-three maneuver flawlessly. DiFrancesco acknowledged this gap, stating, “He was getting me in that line, and that was a second a lap. I knew if I could just log my laps, I wasn’t going to catch Max, but I could at least pull it into a podium.”
At just 20 years old, DiFrancesco recognizes the valuable lessons of racing under pressure. “You really got to put a whole solid day together at a supercross race to be on the box,” he stated, attributing his growth as a rider to both experience and recent extensive training.
The podium finish enhances DiFrancesco’s trajectory in the series, with many now eager to see if he can replicate the success of last year’s standout rookie, Julien Beaumer, who achieved his first SX victory in the following week after a strong performance at Anaheim.
As the 250SX season progresses, DiFrancesco remains focused on refining his techniques and overcoming the race’s uncertainties—elements that could contribute to his first career victory. He remarked, “A lot of unknowns, but a lot more I guess known now that I ended up on the box,” indicating a readiness to capitalize on this momentum in upcoming races.
