Anaheim 2 Supercross Update: Collision impacts Max Shane and Ryder Malinoski
In a dramatic start to the Anaheim 2 Supercross SMX Next – SX main event, Max Shane and Ryder Malinoski collided off the line, resulting in significant injuries to both riders. The incident occurred in the second rhythm section, where Malinoski attempted to triple while Shane doubled in front of him, leading to a violent crash.
Malinoski reported suffering a dislocated hip and a concussion, coupled with severe bruising to his forehead. In an Instagram update, Shane provided details of his injuries, which include a small collapsed lung, lacerated lung, two fractured ribs, and extensive bruising. He spent two nights in the hospital for monitoring and received stitches for a chin laceration and treatment for road rash across his back and shoulder.
Shane expressed his gratitude for the support he received and the medical care from the Alpinestars MX crew. “It’s a racing incident, and it happens. I definitely had God on my side to be as healthy as I am,” he stated, expressing optimism about his recovery and plans to return to competition.
Both riders’ conditions underscore the physical risks inherent in motocross, highlighting the need for ongoing safety measures in the sport.
