Dubai Pole Positions Decided for Asian Le Mans Series
Dubai, UAE – United Autosports secured a front-row start for both races in the Asian Le Mans Series, with Giorgio Roda clinching pole positions for the #5 ORECA 07 Gibson. Roda’s blistering qualifying laps of 1:47.996 and 1:48.283 demonstrate his qualifying prowess, propelling him ahead of the competition.
“I missed out on double pole in Sepang, but I got it back here,” Roda commented post-qualifying. “The circuit here is so dusty every morning, so we only had two chances to do a lap time before the tyres suffered a big drop.”
Jens Reno Moller of High Class Racing finished second to Roda in Race 1 with a 1:48.531 and will start third in Race 2. John Falb’s strong showing put Algarve Pro Racing’s #20 in an advantageous second position for tomorrow’s race.
Proton Competition’s #88 ORECA secured fourth overall, while the championship-leading Cetilar Racing, which won both races in Sepang, will start seventh today and fifth tomorrow.
In the LMP3 category, reigning ELMS champion Paul Lanchere delivered a dominant performance for CLX Motorsport, achieving a best lap of 1:56.438. Romain Vozniak followed closely in the #8 Ligier JS P325, securing a front-row start in both races.
In GT, Abdulla Ali Al-Khelaifi drove the QMMF by Getspeed #37 Mercedes-AMG GT3 to pole for both races, setting times of 1:59.595 and 1:59.934. His teammate Steve Jans completed the front-row lockout for Getspeed.
“Thanks to the team, they provide the perfect setup,” Al-Khelaifi noted, emphasizing the easy-to-drive nature of the car.
The grid is set for the four-hour Race 1, scheduled to start today at 14:10 local time.
