Jo Shimoda Set to Return for 250SX East Division in Arlington
Jo Shimoda is poised to make his much-anticipated return to competition this weekend at the AMA Supercross round 7 in Arlington, Texas. Despite suffering a serious neck injury during the off-season, Shimoda’s recovery has exceeded expectations; he is ready to compete in the 250SX East Division.
Announced by his team, Honda HRC Progressive stated, “The event marks the first round of the 250SX East Region series, and Jo Shimoda is planning to compete. The Japanese racer has made a relatively speedy recovery from surgery. Everyone at Honda is happy to welcome the 2025 SMX 250 Champion back to racing.”
Shimoda’s return adds significant depth to the 250 East Division. While he has had limited time to practice, his experience as the reigning 250SMX Champion, evidenced by the purple backgrounds on his bike, positions him as a contender. If he can secure crucial points in the early rounds, he remains a viable threat for the championship.
The Arlington race also serves as a military appreciation event, drawing additional attention to the opening of the 250SX East Region series. As the season unfolds, Shimoda’s performance will be closely monitored, with fans and competitors alike eager to see how he navigates his comeback.
