Bennick Faces Tough Challenges on New Team in 2026 Season Opener
Daxton Bennick, racing for Rockstar Energy Husqvarna in his first outing of the 2026 season, grappled with a notoriously rough track, citing it as one of the most challenging mains he has encountered. Despite a robust opening round, Bennick noted significant changes in his racing environment following his transfer from Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing.
“The track broke down gnarly,” Bennick commented after the race. “I fought the track all day. If I could nail the rhythm section, I felt I had a chance to make time, especially with my jump technique through the whoops. But it was a tough day overall.”
This year marks a return to a familiar setup for Bennick, who previously trained with KTM as an amateur. Transitioning to Husqvarna, he is working under a program led by Nathan Ramsey at the Baker’s Factory, a shift he views positively. “At Star, there were a lot of good 250 guys, and it was a battle every day. Here, I can focus on myself more,” Bennick explained.
His relationship with Ramsey, though established during his amateur days, has evolved into a more in-depth and systematic training partnership. “Nate’s checking in regularly, which is helpful,” he added. “I’m surrounded by a great team, and it feels like a good environment change.”
The absence of his teammate Casey Cochran, who suffered a fractured collarbone before round one, leaves Bennick as the sole rider in the 250SX East class for his team. This consolidated focus could potentially transform him into a consistent podium contender throughout the season.
As the series progresses, all eyes will be on Bennick to see if this shift equips him with the tools necessary for success amidst heightened competition.
