250SX East Division: Daytona Round Report
The 250SX East Division continues to stir debate following last week’s Arlington opener, where Jo Shimoda misinterpreted a red warning light and rolled jumps unnecessarily while leading the race. The AMA has adapted to this controversy by changing the signal from red to yellow, yet the fallout remains. Shimoda, Honda, and many fans are dissatisfied, while Pierce Brown, who secured the victory at Arlington, has opted to stay focused amid the turmoil.
“I tried not to think or look into the fan response,” Brown remarked about the backlash surrounding the light incident. “There were a lot of unhappy people with the red light situation, but I also had supporters. I try to stay on my path, and nothing else will change.”
At the Daytona event, Brown’s strategic approach paid off as he clinched a third-place finish, allowing him to hold onto the championship points lead.
“A podium was honestly my goal coming into the weekend,” he stated. “I felt great all day; however, as the track deteriorated, I struggled with line choices. Overall, I’m pleased to walk away with a podium and build momentum from last weekend.”
With Brown leading the championship standings, he will look to convert this momentum into continued success as the season progresses.
