MXGP of Switzerland: Längenfelder Claims Victory Amid McLellan’s Misfortunes
The fourth round of the FIM Motocross World Championship in Switzerland delivered unexpected turns, particularly for championship leader Camden McLellan. After achieving his first career MX2 overall win in the previous round, McLellan faced adversity, finishing 13th overall (8-28) following a crash in the second moto. Fortunately, he reported no broken bones post-race.
Simon Längenfelder, the reigning MX2 Champion, showcased dominance with his second overall victory of the season, extending his championship lead to 22 points over McLellan’s Triumph teammate, Guillem Farres. This result propels McLellan to fifth in the standings.
In his post-race comments, McLellan reflected on his struggles: “Sunday in Switzerland was a tough one for me. I didn’t get good starts in either moto… I managed to work my way through to eighth, which isn’t where we want to be. In the second moto, I had another poor start before a heavy crash ended my race. Thankfully, nothing is broken, so now the focus is on recovering over the next couple of weeks and coming back strong in Riola Sardo.”
As the series moves forward, all eyes will be on how McLellan rebounds in upcoming rounds.
