Vasser Sullivan Racing Announces Kirchhofer as No. 14 Driver for Monterey SportsCar Championship
Vasser Sullivan Racing has confirmed that Marvin Kirchhofer will pilot the No. 14 Lexus RC F GT3 in the upcoming Monterey SportsCar Championship at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Kirchhofer steps in to co-drive with Aaron Telitz while regular driver Ben Barnicoat recuperates from injuries sustained in a mountain biking accident.
Kirchhofer, a McLaren factory GT driver, boasts a strong IMSA track record, recently clinching the GTD class victory at the Rolex 24 At Daytona with AWA. He tested the Lexus RC F GT3 at Laguna Seca earlier this month in preparation for the race.
"First of all, I want to wish a speedy recovery to Ben. I’ll try my best to be a good replacement in Laguna Seca," Kirchhofer stated. He expressed gratitude to Lexus, Vasser Sullivan Racing, and TRD for the opportunity, highlighting his excitement about competing on a challenging track.
In last year’s Monterey race, Kirchhofer secured a second-place finish in GTD PRO with Pfaff Motorsports, marking a high point in a challenging season for the team with the McLaren 720S GT3 EVO.
"While we continue to wish Ben a speedy recovery, we are fortunate to welcome Marvin to the team," said Jeff Bal, senior manager of Lexus Motorsports. "With his experience, we know he is more than capable of helping Aaron and the 14 crew bring us another strong finish for Vasser Sullivan and Lexus Racing."
The No. 14 Lexus is still in pursuit of its first top-10 finish in GTD PRO this season, with Telitz currently ranked 10th in the standings after a third-place finish in GTD at Long Beach.
