Ken Roczen Withdraws from Upcoming Supercross Due to Ankle Injury
Brea, CA – H.E.P. Motorsports and Suzuki Motor USA have confirmed that Ken Roczen will miss the upcoming round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, Colorado, due to a severe injury to his right ankle sustained during a midweek practice session.
Roczen, who was already contending with prior shoulder and ankle injuries from the season, suffered additional damage that includes a torn ligament. Medical evaluation has necessitated surgery for the injury, marking a significant setback in his efforts this year.
"Ken has been pushing through a lot of adversity this season," noted Larry Brooks, Team Manager of H.E.P. Motorsports/Suzuki. "He’s been incredibly tough and focused on delivering for the team each weekend, even while managing pain. This new development is unfortunate, but we fully support him in prioritizing his health."
Despite his injuries, Roczen showcased resilience by winning his heat race in Pittsburgh and competing strongly in the main event, where he currently ranks third in the 450SX championship standings.
“It’s tough to step away with just two rounds remaining,” Roczen commented. “But with the new injury, I need to prioritize long-term health and recovery. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished so far this season and I’ll be supporting the team as they head into the final rounds.”
As Roczen undergoes surgery and recovery, the Suzuki and H.E.P. Motorsports team expresses their best wishes for his rehabilitation. Colt Nichols and Kyle Chisholm will continue to compete in the 450SX class, aiming to secure strong finishes in Roczen’s absence.
