Hampshire Transitions to 450 Class with Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Ahead of AMA Pro Motocross Championship
RJ Hampshire is poised for a significant shift in his racing career as he makes the full-time switch to the Husqvarna FC 450 Factory Edition in the upcoming AMA Pro Motocross Championship. At 29, Hampshire enters the premier class after a strong showing in the 250SX East, where he finished third overall in the standings. His season was marked by resilience, including a podium finish at the final round, despite limited outdoor starts due to injury.
This transition comes on the heels of minor surgery to remove hardware from a previous wrist injury, which Hampshire believes will enhance his performance and alleviate pain. “Moving from a 250 to a 450 is a pivotal moment in any racer’s career," he noted. "I’m excited to be making that transition for the outdoors with the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team. We’ve been putting in the work to make the transition as smooth as possible, and I’m feeling confident and ready for the season to kick-off.”
Hampshire’s team manager echoed these sentiments, praising both Hampshire and teammate Malcolm Stewart for their Supercross performances. Stewart secured his first career win in the 450SX class and aims to build on his momentum as he enters his second full outdoor season since 2013. “We’re fired up to get the Pro Motocross season started and can’t wait to see what these two 450 boys will deliver on the track," he concluded.
As the Pro Motocross season approaches, all eyes will be on Hampshire’s performance and adaptability in the highly competitive 450 class.
