Despite the spotlight often on his brother, Jett, Hunter captivated fans with impressive starts and fierce racing. This weekend marks the debut of the SMX Next Motocross series at Hangtown. Recent graduates Enzo Temmerman and Alexander Fedortsov, both of whom shone in the SMX Next Supercross Championship, recently transitioned to the 250MX class at Fox Raceway. The competitive field includes emerging talents Kayden Minear, Landen Gordon, and Landon Gibson, among others, all eager to establish their dominance in outdoor settings. Notably, Minear will race on his new Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing bike, following an injury hiatus from the SMX Next Supercross program.
In Women’s Motocross Championship action, Lala Turner secured victory in the first moto, but faced challenges in the second, finishing third for an overall second place. California’s Makayla Nielson displayed impressive form, claiming first in the second moto after a runner-up finish in the first for an overall win. Title contender Charli Cannon, who underwent finger surgery just nine days prior, managed a commendable fourth-place finish, hinting at her tenacity despite injury. The anticipation builds for round two as these athletes prepare to compete again this Friday.
