Alex Albon Advocates for Potential Thai Grand Prix Amid Monaco Grand Prix Events

Monaco Grand Prix, Monaco – During the first practice session of the Monaco Grand Prix weekend, Alex Albon, driver for Williams Racing, hosted Thailand’s Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra in the team garage. This meeting comes in conjunction with ongoing discussions regarding a prospective Formula 1 Grand Prix in Thailand.

Albon expressed enthusiasm about the possibility of a Thai race, stating, “I’m super excited to hear the news about a possible Thai Grand Prix. It would mean the world to me for that to happen, and it would be another home race not just for me, but for Williams too. I’m very excited; it deserves to be on the race calendar.”

The potential for a Thai Grand Prix gained traction following a visit from F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali to Bangkok, where he met with Shinawatra and her team to explore hosting the event. Domenicali remarked on the fruitful discussion: “I was delighted to meet with Paetongtarn Shinawatra to discuss their impressive plans to host a race in Bangkok. I am looking forward to continuing our discussions in the weeks and months ahead.”

In practice sessions on Friday, Albon showcased solid performance, achieving the fourth-fastest time in FP1 and following up with eighth in FP2.

This interest in a possible Thai race is not limited to Albon’s remarks; he highlighted his desire to share Thailand’s rich culture with fellow drivers, saying, “I want to be their tour guide for the weekends… I’d love to see Thai people more involved in the motorsport world.”

As momentum builds for a potential Grand Prix in Thailand, stakeholders will be closely monitoring further discussions and developments in the coming months.
