Alpine F1 Team Principal Oliver Oakes Resigns
Alpine F1 has announced the resignation of team principal Oliver Oakes, effective immediately, amidst a challenging start to the 2025 season. Oakes, who joined the team in July 2024, had succeeded Bruno Famin and collaborated closely with executive advisor Flavio Briatore.
In a statement, Alpine confirmed, “The team has accepted his resignation with immediate effect. Flavio Briatore will continue as Executive Advisor and will assume the responsibilities previously held by Oliver Oakes.” The team expressed gratitude for Oakes’ contributions, notably leading Alpine to a sixth-place finish in the 2024 Constructors’ Championship.
Oakes’ tenure was marked by steady development of the team’s cars, but results in the current season have not met expectations. Following this leadership change, Alpine is reportedly considering replacing rookie driver Jack Doohan with reserve driver Franco Colapinto before the upcoming Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola.
Further updates on the situation are anticipated.
