Aston Martin Prepares Major Upgrade for Belgian Grand Prix

Aston Martin is gearing up to introduce significant updates to its Formula 1 car at the Belgian Grand Prix, with team principal Andy Cowell confirming the arrival of a "big component" as part of the team’s ongoing development efforts for 2025.

Following a successful run at the British Grand Prix, where Aston Martin achieved a double-points finish, the team has maintained its momentum by scoring in four consecutive races. Recent upgrades focused on the floor and engine cover, evolving from a series of developments initiated at the start of the European season. The recent break between races has provided an opportunity for the team to analyze the performance of these parts.

"We found gathering data on the aerodynamic package difficult due to the wet conditions at Silverstone," Cowell stated in an interview with SiriusXM. "We’ll review what we’ve learned about the floor and minor bodywork changes before Spa."

With another major component ready for deployment at Spa-Francorchamps, Cowell emphasized the team’s strategic focus. "We’re not allocating further significant aerodynamic resources, but refining our current setup will prepare us better for 2026 and beyond."

Aston Martin has also made strides in closing the gap in the Constructors’ Championship, particularly against rivals Williams and Racing Bulls. Cowell noted an improved morale within the team, driven by consistent scoring. "If the car’s quicker and you’re earning points, it certainly lifts the atmosphere. Positive feedback boosts team morale," he remarked.

The success of the updates introduced at Imola further reinforces the team’s progress. "It’s crucial to understand the car’s strengths and weaknesses, and it’s gratifying to see the data align favorably against our competitors," Cowell concluded, underscoring the cohesive efforts of both trackside and factory teams as pivotal to their ongoing performance improvements.
