Cadillac’s F1 Entry: Bottas and Perez Set for 2026 Challenge

Cadillac has confirmed its intention to enter the Formula 1 grid in 2026, announcing an experienced driver lineup of Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez to spearhead its inaugural season. Both drivers are preparing for the challenges of establishing a new team in a highly competitive environment.

Bottas, currently a reserve driver for Mercedes with ten career victories, acknowledges the difficulties that lie ahead. “It’s going to be difficult in the first year,” Bottas stated. He emphasized the importance of managing expectations and the mental readiness necessary for such a venture. “If you prepare for the worst, then any achievement will feel rewarding.”

The Finnish driver has been in discussions with team principal Graeme Lowdon for two years, ultimately deciding that he wants to contribute to what he describes as a “start-up Formula 1 team” with significant backing and lofty ambitions. Bottas expressed confidence that, alongside Perez, they can guide the team in the right direction, despite both drivers turning 36 before the start of the 2026 season.

“It’s going to be a mountain of work,” Bottas warned, highlighting the demanding nature of Formula 1. However, he remains optimistic that with the right structure and team dynamics, they can quickly find their competitive footing.

Perez echoed Bottas’s sentiments, emphasizing the unique opportunity they both have in joining a new team at this stage in their careers. The duo is determined to push Cadillac toward success and avoid being at the back of the grid.

In summary, Cadillac’s entry into Formula 1 represents an ambitious venture, with Bottas and Perez ready to embrace the challenges and work toward establishing a competitive presence in the sport.
