Carlos Sainz Embraces Challenge at Williams Ahead of 2025 Season

Carlos Sainz has officially confirmed his transition to Williams from Ferrari for the 2025 Formula 1 season, expressing enthusiasm about the team’s familial atmosphere and the competitive project ahead. In a recent appearance on the High Performance podcast, Sainz reflected on his swift adaptation to the Grove-based outfit, currently positioned fifth in the Constructors’ Championship with 59 points after 12 races. This marks a significant improvement from their ninth-place finish in 2024.

While Sainz has faced reliability challenges, amassing only 13 points thus far, he remains optimistic about his performance as he becomes more accustomed to the FW47. Teammate Alex Albon currently leads the team’s points tally with 46.

"I’m in a very happy place right now," Sainz stated. "I found in Williams […] a race team and a family that is working towards making Williams competitive again."

Sainz’s move comes after his contract with Ferrari ended unceremoniously, with Lewis Hamilton stepping into his former role. Despite initial setbacks, the Spaniard has regained confidence through Williams’ vision and leadership, particularly under Team Principal James Vowles.

"[Vowles] had put together a very strong project here in Williams," Sainz observed. "There’s very strong leadership and a vision that immediately made me fall in love with the project and trust his leadership."

Though he acknowledges that the workload at Williams exceeds that of previous teams, Sainz is eager to contribute to the team’s resurgence, stating, "I enjoy that side of my job and I’m keen to see the results come through in the future."
