Leclerc Denies Future Speculation Amid Ferrari Struggles
Charles Leclerc has dispelled recent Italian media rumors suggesting his potential departure from Ferrari, expressing his surprise at the speculation. The Monegasque driver acknowledged Ferrari’s disappointing performance in the early stages of the 2025 season, with the team securing only three podiums and a sprint race victory attributed to Lewis Hamilton in China.
Despite this mixed form, Leclerc emphasized his unwavering commitment to the Scuderia. “I have no idea from where it’s coming from,” Leclerc stated regarding the rumors. “I keep saying how much I love the team and how much I want to bring back Ferrari to the top.”
Ferrari’s struggles are contributing to uncertainty surrounding Team Principal Frederic Vasseur’s future. Leclerc pointed out that while Ferrari aimed to recapture competitive form akin to late 2024, the team’s current performance has left much to be desired. He noted McLaren’s significant progress this season, which has overshadowed their own efforts: “McLaren has done a huge step forward compared to last year. A lot more than anybody else.”
Going forward, Leclerc emphasized the need for internal focus and improvement. “We need to find ourselves,” he remarked, acknowledging the pressures of working for Ferrari. “Second is never good enough. We want to be winning, and that’s what we are putting all our efforts into.”
The upcoming races will be critical for Ferrari as they seek to align their performance with their championship aspirations.
