Oscar Piastri Claims Third Consecutive Victory at Miami Grand Prix
Oscar Piastri extended his winning streak to three races at the Miami Grand Prix, becoming the first McLaren driver since Mika Hakkinen in 1998 to achieve this feat. Despite the triumph, Piastri, who started fourth on the grid, expressed dissatisfaction with his performance, indicating that he believes there are key areas for improvement.
Reflecting on the race, Piastri stated, “I think this weekend was not my best… The race was pretty solid, but [Saturday] I was pretty frustrated with my performance.” He acknowledged the role of fortune in his victory, remarking, “Yes, we’ve always had a strong car, but the pace we had from lap one felt unexpected, even for us.”
Piastri’s strategy during the race involved a crucial overtaking maneuver against Max Verstappen, which he executed with precision. He noted, “I could tell we had a lot of pace. It was a matter of just biding my time, waiting for a moment,” which ultimately secured his win.
The team will aim to consistently replicate this level of performance, as Piastri indicated, “I don’t want to rely on that every single Sunday,” underlining his commitment to personal and team development as they prepare for upcoming challenges.
