Ed Sheeran Premieres New Track at F1 Movie Launch

London, UK – Ed Sheeran graced the red carpet for the European premiere of the highly anticipated Formula 1 film starring Brad Pitt. The Grammy Award-winning artist is contributing to the film’s soundtrack with a new song titled "Drive," co-written alongside Blake Slatkin and John Mayer.

During an interview with Clara Amfo, Sheeran expressed his excitement about the film, stating, "I only saw it on a tiny screen, so I’m excited to see it on a proper screen." He emphasized the unique challenge of crafting a song centered on a fictional character’s journey rather than his own, noting, “The brief was to write about his journey and life… It’s more about the movie and the story.”

The collaboration came at a fortuitous time, as Sheeran was recording in the studio when he received the opportunity. "We just were like, ‘Shall we try something?’ And then it worked. So it was more the timing," Sheeran explained. The track also features notable musicians, including Mayer on guitar, Dave Grohl on drums, Pino Palladino on bass, and Rami Jaffee on keyboards.

"Drive" was officially released on June 20, with Sheeran revealing, "The song fell out of us… being a part of the journey of a movie is so exciting for me."

As the film nears its release, anticipation builds not only for its racing narrative but also for Sheeran’s musical contribution, which aims to elevate the cinematic experience.
