Progress on United States Grand Prix Contract Renewal

Negotiations to renew the contract for the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) are advancing, with COTA chairman Bobby Epstein expressing optimism for a favorable outcome. The current contract concludes after this season’s race, set for October 17-19.

Epstein stated, “Conversations are ongoing and I think we’re optimistic. I have little doubt that they want to do anything but continue and likewise do we.” Although discussions are progressing, no urgency has been established from either side regarding the finalization.

According to Epstein, Formula 1 has not requested significant changes in the upcoming agreement, though an expansion of hospitality options is anticipated with a longer-term commitment. He noted the strong demand for Paddock Club experiences, with all current offerings sold out this season. “They would like to see an expanded Paddock Club… we’re looking at creating something incredibly special that I hope we unveil along with a contract extension,” he added.

Anticipation for attendance at this year’s race is high, with Epstein suggesting it may become the best-attended USGP at COTA. He credited the surge in interest to factors such as the popular F1 documentary series and increased disposable income post-pandemic. “We might get close [to a new record] – it’s early still. I just know we’re already in the top three,” he stated.

As negotiations continue, the outcome will be closely monitored in the motorsports community, given the significant impact of the USGP on Formula 1’s North American presence.
