Verstappen Secures Pole at Miami Grand Prix

Max Verstappen continued his dominant form in Formula 1, securing pole position for the Miami Grand Prix with a blistering lap time of 1:26.204. This marks the Dutchman’s 43rd career pole and came after an exhilarating qualifying session where he edged out McLaren’s Lando Norris by just 0.065 seconds.

Verstappen initiated Q3 with an impressive first lap of 1:26.492, setting the stage for a dramatic finale. Despite a valiant effort from Norris, who was on the brink of a late improvement, he lost critical time by bouncing over the inside curb in the final corner. Oscar Piastri of McLaren placed third, showcasing strong performance behind his teammate.

The second Mercedes, piloted by George Russell, ended the session in fifth position. The Williams team duo of Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon followed closely, with Charles Leclerc of Ferrari rounding out the top eight in a low-key performance.

Notable Performances and Struggles

In Q2, Piastri led with a time two-tenths faster than Norris. Russell, initially struggling with confidence in his Mercedes, managed to advance to Q3 after a strong second run.

Lewis Hamilton faced notable challenges, exiting in 12th place — just 0.039 seconds shy of advancing. Yuki Tsunoda completed the top ten in the second Red Bull after a solid qualifying effort.

The opening session saw a frantic pace, intensified by evolving track conditions after morning rain. Verstappen set the tone early, leading Q1 amid growing traffic pressures that led other drivers, including Hamilton, to scramble for positions at the end of the session.
