Ferrari Extends Contract of Team Principal Fred Vasseur Amid Challenging Season
Ferrari has confirmed the multi-year contract extension of team principal Fred Vasseur, solidifying his role despite a season marked by difficulties. Vasseur, who joined Ferrari at the beginning of the 2023 season, is navigating a challenging year for the Scuderia, which currently holds second in the Constructors’ Championship but is trailing McLaren by 268 points and has yet to secure a race victory.
Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna praised the foundational work laid under Vasseur’s leadership, emphasizing the team’s commitment to future growth. "Today we recognize what has been built and commit to what still needs to be achieved,” Vigna stated, affirming the trust in Vasseur’s leadership. He underscored the team’s shared ambition and clarity of responsibility as they aim for superior performance levels.
Vasseur acknowledges the progress made since his arrival from Alfa Romeo over two years ago while recognizing the need for further development ahead of the 2026 regulatory changes. "I’m grateful for the trust Ferrari continues to place in me," Vasseur remarked. "This renewal is not just a confirmation – it’s a challenge to keep progressing and deliver."
With this extension, Vasseur becomes one of the longest-serving team principals on the current grid, alongside McLaren’s Andrea Stella and trailing only Mercedes’ Toto Wolff. The continuity in leadership aims to pave the way for future successes as Ferrari seeks to reclaim its competitive edge in Formula 1.
