Miami Grand Prix: Lando Norris Targets Early Move on Max Verstappen
Miami, FL – Lando Norris aims to capitalize on his front-row starting position at the Miami Grand Prix, hoping to challenge reigning champion Max Verstappen into Turn 1. Despite securing second place in qualifying, Norris’ attempts to dethrone Verstappen were hampered by a mistake at Turn 17 during the qualifying session.
"I’m ready to see what I can do into Turn 1,” Norris commented post-qualifying. Starting from the inside line could provide him a crucial advantage. He stressed the importance of the three DRS zones and the tighter braking areas at Miami compared to previous races, particularly the low-degradation event at Suzuka, where overtaking proved difficult.
“The DRS helps a lot around here. There are bigger braking zones compared to Suzuka, so I’m hopeful,” he stated. Norris also noted that fierce competition lies ahead, with fellow drivers Kimi Antonelli and Oscar Piastri showcasing impressive speeds throughout the weekend.
After struggling in recent races in Bahrain and Jeddah, Norris expressed optimism about his performance in Miami, driven by time spent in the McLaren simulator. “I’m happy with the progress we’re making with the MCL39, even if it doesn’t fully align with my driving style. It’s just disappointing to miss out on pole," he remarked.
As the race prepares to unfold, the focus will be on the intense battle at the front, particularly between Norris and Verstappen, who have established themselves as key competitors in this season.
