Apple Could Become New Home for Formula 1 Streaming in the U.S. from 2026
Formula 1 fans in the United States may see a shift in their viewing options starting in 2026, as Apple is reportedly competing for exclusive streaming rights amidst the expiration of ESPN’s current deal. The current arrangement concludes at the end of 2025, and speculation suggests Apple’s bid could reach at least $150 million annually, placing it in a strong position against ESPN, which may not counter the offer.
Motorsport.com has learned that alongside its media rights ambitions, Formula One Management (FOM) aims to maintain F1 TV’s service in the U.S., ensuring fans have multiple platforms for access. The surge in interest in Formula 1, partly fueled by Apple’s recent success with the film F1: The Movie, directed by Joseph Kosinski and featuring Brad Pitt, is likely influencing this move. The film has quickly become Apple’s highest-grossing theatrical release, amassing over $293 million globally within its first ten days.
In addition, Apple is developing a documentary on seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, with CEO Tim Cook highlighting Hamilton’s inspiring journey from a working-class background to F1 stardom. “Lewis is very inspiring for me. His incredible life story will inspire millions of people,” stated Cook.
As negotiations proceed, the motorsport world watches closely to see how these developments will shape the future of Formula 1 broadcasting in the U.S.
