McLaren Group Welcomes Luca Di Montezemolo to Board of Directors
LONDON, UK – McLaren Group Holdings Limited has announced the appointment of Luca Di Montezemolo to its board of directors, effective immediately. This move comes as McLaren continues to navigate strategic changes in both its automotive and Formula 1 divisions.
Di Montezemolo, a pivotal architect behind Ferrari’s resurgence in Formula 1 during the late 1990s, previously served as chairman of the Scuderia until 2014. His extensive experience in motorsports leadership is expected to bolster McLaren’s ambitions to enhance its brand and competitiveness.
This appointment follows the takeover of McLaren Automotive by Abu Dhabi’s CYVN Holdings, which was formalized under McLaren Group Holdings in April. CYVN announced its intent to transform McLaren into a high-performing luxury automotive brand while expanding its footprint in high-performance sectors.
Nick Collins has been installed as the new CEO of McLaren Automotive and will work alongside Di Montezemolo on the board. This leadership change is partnered with the recent addition of McLaren Group Chairman Paul Walsh to the board, solidifying a robust management team.
McLaren Racing, along with its parent company, remains majority owned by Mumtalakat, the sovereign wealth fund of Bahrain, ensuring continuity in its core racing operations.
