McLaren Group Appoints Luca Di Montezemolo to Board of Directors

LONDON – McLaren Group Holdings Limited has officially appointed former Ferrari chairman Luca Di Montezemolo to its board, marking a significant move for the organization which oversees both McLaren Automotive and a minority stake in McLaren Racing. The announcement was made following a Companies House filing in the UK.

Di Montezemolo, who played a pivotal role in Ferrari’s resurgence in Formula 1 during the late 1990s, served as chairman of the Scuderia until 2014. His addition to the McLaren board brings the total number of directors to nine, enhancing the company’s leadership as it seeks to strengthen its position in both automotive and motorsports sectors.

This appointment comes on the heels of a strategic takeover of McLaren Automotive by the Abu Dhabi-based CYVN Holdings, finalized in April. CYVN has outlined a vision to elevate McLaren into a leading high-performance and luxury automotive brand globally.

In tandem with Di Montezemolo’s appointment, Nick Collins was named CEO of McLaren Automotive in May, further reshaping the leadership team. Recently, Paul Walsh, chairman of McLaren Group, was also added to the board.

Despite these changes, McLaren Racing remains predominantly owned by Mumtalakat, the sovereign wealth fund of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
