Franco Colapinto Reflects on Difficult Spanish Grand Prix and Prepares for Austria
Franco Colapinto’s debut season with Alpine has faced scrutiny, especially following another challenging performance at the 2025 Spanish Grand Prix, where he finished 15th. This result leaves the Alpine team at the bottom of the constructors’ standings.
Amid the disappointment, a silver lining emerged when Lewis Hamilton extended an invitation for Colapinto to join him on his private flight back to England. Colapinto, who idolizes Hamilton, expressed gratitude, stating, "Lewis is a great guy and I just had the best flight of my life with him."
Despite the tough weekend, Colapinto found comfort in Hamilton’s camaraderie. "It was quite special, flying private for the first time… a dream come true," he added, reflecting on their conversation and Hamilton’s professionalism.
Looking ahead to the Austrian Grand Prix, where the team hopes to improve, Colapinto is optimistic. "I’ve been feeling better, more comfortable, and more connected with the car. We’re trying to focus race by race," he stated. Colapinto achieved his joint highest finish in Canada with a 13th place, indicating incremental progress as he aims to maximize Alpine’s performance in Austria.
As the F1 circuit approaches the next race, all eyes will be on Colapinto and his team to see if they can capitalize on their newfound momentum.
