Isack Hadjar Prepares for Red Bull Challenges Ahead of 2026

Red Bull Racing’s newest recruit, Isack Hadjar, has expressed realistic expectations as he prepares to partner reigning champion Max Verstappen in the 2026 season. Promoted to the top-tier team, Hadjar acknowledged that he anticipates being slower than Verstappen initially, emphasizing the importance of mental preparedness for what he describes as a “tough” transition.

Hadjar’s elevation follows a tumultuous 2025 season, where Yuki Tsunoda replaced Liam Lawson after just two races due to Sergio Perez’s struggles. As Hadjar steps into this high-pressure environment, he aims to manage comparisons to Verstappen, one of the sport’s top talents.

“Accepting that I’m going to be slower the first months is essential,” Hadjar stated. “Looking at the data and realizing there are things I can’t achieve yet will be frustrating. But if I embrace this mindset, I will be better prepared.”

Hadjar also noted Verstappen’s exceptional adaptability, stating, “He doesn’t have a fixed driving style; he adjusts to the car’s characteristics.” This adaptability has contributed to Verstappen’s consistent performances across different seasons.

The young driver believes that many have underestimated the challenge of driving alongside Verstappen, often leading to a damaging “snowball effect” when faced with early setbacks. “We’re talking about the best driver on the grid,” Hadjar remarked. “The chance that I’m slower is very high, so I’m setting realistic goals while hoping to improve quickly.”

As preparations continue for the upcoming season, Hadjar remains focused on developing his skills and insights within one of Formula 1’s most competitive environments.
