Hamilton Analyzes Ferrari’s Upcoming Upgrades Ahead of Austrian GP
Lewis Hamilton has addressed the anticipated upgrades from Ferrari, set to debut during the Austrian Grand Prix weekend, indicating caution in expectations. The upgrades include a revised floor for the Red Bull Ring and modifications to the rear suspension for the subsequent British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
"I’m happy that we have an upgrade," Hamilton remarked to Motorsport.com. "It’s always exciting to get new pieces to the car… but we really don’t know the actual effect that it’s gonna have." He emphasized that the improvements might not result in substantial performance gains: "Hopefully it will be a step in the right direction, but I don’t think we’re expecting it to change a huge amount."
Ferrari Team Principal Fred Vasseur reiterated the importance of the upcoming updates. He stated, "We will have an upgrade soon, before the UK, and perhaps another one a bit later." Vasseur highlighted the significance of execution over raw potential at this stage of the season, suggesting a need for the team to adapt to upgrades quickly: "When we bring upgrades in the past, we needed one or two races to adapt the car."
Both Hamilton and his Ferrari rival, Charles Leclerc, will have their first opportunity to evaluate the upgrades in the opening practice session, scheduled for 12:30 BST (13:30 local time).
As the teams gear up for a critical phase of the season, the implications of these updates could play a vital role in the championship battle.
