Haas F1 Team Set to Celebrate 10th Anniversary at Goodwood Festival of Speed

Goodwood, UK – The Haas F1 Team is making its debut at the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed, a milestone celebration marking its 10th year in Formula 1. Team principal Ayao Komatsu confirmed that team owner Gene Haas will drive the 2023 VF23 up the iconic hillclimb, alongside drivers Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman.

“This is our first year with a test car program, illustrating our growth as a team,” Komatsu stated. “Being part of such a significant event is particularly meaningful as we recently celebrated our 200th Grand Prix in Montréal."

Komatsu highlighted the personal significance for Gene Haas, who founded the team and remains its sole owner. “It’s a special moment for him to drive his own car," Komatsu noted.

The initiative to have Haas behind the wheel emerged earlier this year during the Miami Grand Prix. “I suggested to Gene that this celebration is not just ours, but his too. To share this experience was important to me,” recalled Komatsu. Initially nervous, Haas agreed to participate after some encouragement.

Komatsu recently participated in a shakedown of the VF23, providing insights into both Haas’s advancing skills and his growing confidence during practice sessions. “Every outing revealed more of his comfort and enjoyment, culminating in a series of smiles as he embraced the vehicle’s power,” noted Komatsu.

This weekend’s event is not only a celebration of Haas’s decade in F1 but also a showcase of the team’s rising prominence in the motorsport arena.
