Leclerc Sounds Alarm as Ferrari Struggles Continue

Charles Leclerc has expressed growing concerns regarding Ferrari’s performance as the Formula 1 season approaches its conclusion. The Scuderia, presently third in the constructors’ standings, has yet to secure a victory this year, a stark contrast to their near championship win last season.

Following a sixth-place finish at the Singapore Grand Prix, Leclerc remarked that the current car leaves drivers feeling like “passengers.” He detailed the team’s ongoing struggles against competitors, noting that they maintain a consistent gap to McLaren, while Red Bull and Mercedes have shown significant improvements.

“Unfortunately, we don’t have the race car to fight with the guys in front,” Leclerc stated. He acknowledged that his team has been unable to extract the necessary performance, stating, “It just feels like we are kind of passengers to the car and we cannot extract much more.”

With only eight points separating Ferrari from fourth-place Red Bull, the situation is precarious. Leclerc reflected on the challenges of transitioning from a championship-contending season. “It’s difficult to go from fighting for wins to having to lower your expectations,” he explained. “It takes a lot of energy, but that doesn’t demotivate me. If anything, it motivates me to try and turn the situation around.”

Looking ahead, Leclerc anticipates a continuation of current trends. “The picture we’ve seen is going to be what the rest of the season looks like for us,” he concluded, underscoring the urgent need for Ferrari to regain its competitive edge as the season nears its finale.
