Leclerc’s Frustration After Narrow Miss in Monaco Qualifying
Monaco, 2025 — Charles Leclerc expressed deep frustration after narrowly missing pole position at the Monaco Grand Prix, as he felt it was a unique opportunity for Ferrari to compete for victory. Leclerc initially secured provisional pole during Q3, outpacing both McLaren drivers, but ultimately lost the top spot to Lando Norris by just 0.109 seconds.
This weekend marked Ferrari’s most competitive showing of the season, with Leclerc acknowledging that a pole position could have been pivotal for a potential win. "There’s always something more to be done. But this was the best we could do," Leclerc remarked, noting a challenging first lap due to traffic in sector two.
Leclerc’s bid for pole was thwarted when Norris, who opted for an additional flying lap on their final runs, managed to capitalize on his own pace. Reflecting on his performance, Leclerc stated, "I’m proud of the result we’ve had today, as on paper it was going to be a very difficult weekend for us."
Despite his strong showing in qualifying, Leclerc remains aware of the limitations of the Ferrari car this season. "We know that we don’t quite have the car to go for wins this year, but this weekend, the car felt good," he added.
The Monaco Grand Prix promises to be a strategic challenge, with Leclerc starting from P2 in a field where overtaking is notoriously difficult.
