Wolff Addresses Russell Contract Speculation
Toto Wolff, Team Principal at Mercedes, has clarified the ongoing discussions regarding George Russell’s contract, which is currently set to expire. While questions have arisen about the timing and nature of negotiations, Wolff asserted that there is no cause for concern.
"George has been part of our program for over a decade, consistently meeting our performance expectations," Wolff stated. He added, "We haven’t provided him with a championship-winning car in the last three years, which is our responsibility. When the car has been competitive, he has secured race wins."
Wolff emphasized that contract discussions are typically conducted discreetly, stating, "Such matters should not be discussed in town halls, and everything is proceeding as planned."
With Russell’s contract renewal still pending, the focus remains on Mercedes’ performance on the track as the season progresses.
