Cowell Addresses Stroll’s Injury Status Ahead of Montreal Grand Prix

Aston Martin team principal Mike Cowell has confirmed that Lance Stroll, who has been dealing with recurrent hand issues sustained during the 2023 pre-season, is fit to compete in his home race in Montreal. The revelation comes amid concerns about the severity of Stroll’s injury as the F1 calendar progresses.

When questioned about the potential need for a deputy driver, especially with reserve drivers Felipe Drugovich and Stoffel Vandoorne participating at Le Mans, Cowell remained noncommittal. "Every situation you have, you have different plans, but Plan A has been strong all the way through," he stated. "Lance is here, and we’ve been really pleased with how things have gone over the last couple of weeks."

Cowell emphasized the team’s preparedness in handling driver contingencies, affirming that the reserve driver situation was planned for: "It’s something that we’ve always got planned in. You’ve always got contingencies."

As Stroll approaches the Montreal race, the team is focused on performance, with Cowell indicating that all resources are aligned to ensure a competitive outing.
