Monaco Grand Prix: FP1 Highlights
Charles Leclerc of Scuderia Ferrari dominated the opening practice session for the Monaco Grand Prix, setting the fastest lap with a time of 1m11.964s. Leclerc’s performance puts him ahead of reigning champion Max Verstappen of Red Bull, who followed closely, along with impressive showings from Lando Norris, Alex Albon, and Oscar Piastri in the top five.
Notably, George Russell and Carlos Sainz also featured prominently in the upper tier of the timesheets, with Pierre Gasly, Lewis Hamilton, and Fernando Alonso rounding out the top ten.
However, not all drivers navigated the challenging street circuit unscathed. Gabriel Bortoleto ended the session with a significant incident at Sainte Devote, while Isack Hadjar remarked, “Busiest FP1 of my life,” highlighting the increased challenge of the track conditions.
As teams look to refine their setups ahead of qualifying, the session underscored the competitive landscape in Monaco, setting the stage for a thrilling weekend ahead.
