McLaren Poised for Success in 2026 F1 Season, Says Stella

McLaren’s Technical Director Andrea Stella expressed strong confidence in the team’s readiness for the 2026 Formula 1 season, attributing its recent successes to a robust technical department. After a challenging start to the ground effect era, where the team struggled with performance, McLaren has reversed its fortunes, clinching back-to-back Constructors’ Championships and a Drivers’ title in 2023.

Stella highlighted the achievements of the technical team, stating, “The technical team ultimately conceived, designed, and developed a car that transformed from one of the slowest on the grid to the best in 2025.” He noted that the team has built a foundation that can adapt to upcoming regulatory changes, asserting, “The working way, the standards, and the approach to car development carry into the future, making us optimistic for the 2026 season.”

CEO Zak Brown echoed Stella’s sentiments, emphasizing the commitment of shareholders and the overall evolution of the team. “The commitment from our shareholders, specifically Mumtalakat, has been unbelievable,” Brown stated. He acknowledged the significant growth both on and off the track and stressed the importance of his leadership team’s roles in maintaining operational excellence.

Brown concluded, “The exciting part of Formula 1 is starting anew under different rules… We’ve changed a lot of our car this year, and that’s crucial even if the regulations haven’t significantly altered.” He recognized the increasingly competitive landscape, noting that all teams are now operating at the cost cap, raising the overall standard of the sport.

As McLaren gears up for the new season, both Stella and Brown remain focused on innovation and maintaining the momentum established in recent years.
