Piastri Claims Third Consecutive Victory at Miami Grand Prix
Miami, FL – Oscar Piastri showcased exceptional skill at the Miami Grand Prix, securing his third consecutive win and further extending his lead in the championship standings over teammate Lando Norris. Piastri’s victory was characterized by a solid performance after starting from fourth position on the grid.
Piastri’s winning moment was underscored by a light-hearted bet with NFL star Justin Jefferson, leading him to perform a ‘griddy’ dance in celebration. "It was an attempt at a griddy. As you can tell, poorly executed,” Piastri remarked post-race. He added, “I stayed true to the bet, but that’s the one and only time you’re going to see me doing that.”
Jefferson responded enthusiastically on social media, exclaiming, “OSCARRRRRR!!! LETS GOOOOO.” Their interaction stemmed from Jefferson’s recent visit to the paddock, where he taught Piastri the dance move, promising him the chance to be the first to do it in a racing context.
The race maintaining its intensity saw Piastri navigate the track with precision, delivering a performance that solidified both his and McLaren’s strength this season. Norris finished second, marking another 1-2 finish for McLaren, while defending champion Max Verstappen finished a distant fourth.
This result not only amplifies Piastri’s momentum as a title contender but also places him in strong contention as the season progresses.
