Red Bull Racing Prepares Key Upgrades for Austria and Silverstone Grands Prix
Red Bull Racing is set to unveil significant upgrades to its 2025 Formula 1 car during the upcoming Austrian and Silverstone Grands Prix, marking a pivotal moment as the team’s development efforts near completion. Helmut Marko, Red Bull’s advisor, confirmed that enhancements—including modifications to the floor, sidepods, and front wing—will debut this weekend at the Red Bull Ring.
In a statement to Kleine Zeitung, Marko emphasized the urgency of these upgrades: "We are now getting an update for Austria, which will be refined again for Silverstone. But if that doesn’t work either, then it will be difficult in the world championship. And it’s not as if it’s not difficult enough already."
Marko anticipates these will be Red Bull’s final upgrades before redirecting resources to the 2026 regulations. He noted, "After Silverstone or Spa, at the latest, there will be a decision to focus entirely on the new car."
Technical analysis has indicated that Red Bull currently trails McLaren by approximately three-tenths of a second per lap, largely due to challenges with tire performance. "It’s not impossible to make up the three tenths, but it has to come now," Marko asserted, while highlighting that the team is competing with a smaller operational window compared to its rivals.
As Red Bull heads into its home race, Max Verstappen, a five-time winner at the track, is expected to leverage favorable conditions. "If the track suits us, like in Jeddah or Suzuka, then it works," Marko concluded, setting the stage for a critical race weekend.
The urgency of improvement underscores the high stakes facing Red Bull as it seeks to remain competitive in the championship race.
