Tsunoda Loses Phone in Lake Como as Red Bull Teases Driver
In an unusual off-track incident, Yuki Tsunoda, the Japanese driver for Red Bull Racing, has reported losing his phone while swimming in Lake Como during the team’s summer break between the British and Belgian Grands Prix. The revelation was shared via Instagram, where Tsunoda humorously appealed for help: "On a completely unrelated topic, if anyone finds a phone while swimming in Lake Como, lemme know."
Red Bull responded with a lighthearted post, urging fans in the Lake Como area to assist in finding the lost device, even depicting a map labeled "Jason Statham’s Son," a playful nod to Tsunoda’s custom AirDrop name.
Tsunoda’s admiration for actor Jason Statham came to light during the 2023 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix when his performance coach, Michael Italiano, disclosed the nickname, leading to a lighthearted moment with the actor during their meeting.
Amid the off-track antics, Tsunoda’s on-track performance remains a concern. After replacing Liam Lawson at Red Bull for the 2025 season, he currently sits 17th in the drivers’ standings with just 10 points accumulated. The team has also faced challenges, slipping to fourth in the constructors’ standings with 172 points, significantly trailing leaders McLaren by 288 points.
